Okay, so my boss gave me a video_ts folder to burn a backup for him of a video he put together a while ago.
SOME HOW (he must have accidentally turned something on in DVD studio pro or something) CSS copy controll was added to the files and now toast will not let me burn them.
is there anyway to remove the CSS copy protection from this video ts folder (its not a disc image just a folder with all the .vob .bup .ifo files etc.)
like I mentioned before, this is something of ours, not a storebought dvd... which is what makes the whole thing so frusterating.
mactheripper wont work because it only rips from discs, and not from files. any ideas?

yeah, like I said this is for the production company I work for and obviously SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE didn't follow the proper instructions...
my boss is a bit of a luddite so im really not too surprised.
im about to try the disk image solution, and will let everyone know how it worked.:: ehmjay. -
Try this. I have attached a droplet which uses mkisofs to create a UDF dvd image (which Disk Utility cannot do). Decompress the zip file. Create a folder which contains only your VIDEO_TS folder. Drop that new folder onto the Make DVD-IMG.app droplet. Once a dialog pops up saying that DVD image is complete, double-click the image to mount it, and run MacTheRipper on the image.

thanks artemis i'll try that.
the toast error tells me that the folder contains CSS copyprotection or something along those lines.
my boss himself didn't make the disc he gave me, he took the files off of a disc someone else had previously made for the company. lol
gotta love knowing more than the ol' bossman.:: ehmjay. -
hey artemis... i keep getting a popup saying
sh: -c: line1: syntax error near unexpected token `('
sh: -c: line 1: `'/users/adamschoales/desktop/make dvd-img.app/contents/resources/mkisofs'-quiet- f -dvd-video -udf -V DVD -o /users/adamschoales/desktop/ DVDimg. /volumes/schoales 279gb/movies/michael
and the options
edit and ok
then i click ok and nothing happens. any ideas why?:: ehmjay. -
ehmjay, it looks like there is a space before the DVD folder name. if you could remove that space and try again, and let me know if that works.
-
ehmjay, i fixed the droplet to handle spaces (although you probably shouldn't have spaces in DVD names anyway). Also, when it prompts you to select a folder, select where you want the image saved (ie. don't select the DVD folder).

thanks artemis. I managed to fix the problem by moving the files i wanted to be imaged from my external HD.
once i did that things worked perfectly. I will however download the new droplet for future use!
thanks for all your help!:: ehmjay. -
hi, i'm new here. i had the same problem as the user who posted this topic so i did a google search and found this place. i download the droplet the member posted and tried to go through the same steps after reading through.
the problem is that when i drag the video_ts folder to make a disk image, it says it is unable to do so due to "Warning: -follow-links does not always work correctly; be careful." and it says that even with any video_ts folder i have. can anyone tell me what my problem is? -
Don't drag the VIDEO_TS folder onto the droplet. Drag its parent folder onto the droplet, and make sure that nothing more than the VIDEO_TS folder and possibly an AUDIO_TS folder are in the parent folder, nothing else.

this is kind of off topic from css but it has to do with copy protection. i'm trying to make a copy of a dvd but when i got mac the ripper to copy the files and used toast to burn them and tried to play it in a dvd player, the result was that a video started playing saying downloading is wrong and the dvd stopped playing. all of the actual video ts folder was on the dvd so i used vlc to play the file before i burnt it. it seems as if the video saying it was pirated is named VTS_01_1.VOB and VTS_01_1.VOB and after that, the files named 02_1.vob and such are the actual menu screens and the movie. i need to somehow get rid of the ones named 1 but if i just deleted them, toast says the dvd is corrupt. any suggestions?

i can;t just remove that file and rename the other ones or any easier way? ...its a lot of effort to sign up and post again... i'm registering now.

every time i try to sign up i get an error:
Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 535 auth failure

ArtemisG3: your little droplet works like a charm. Thank you so much!
