Here's what I need to do. Just looking to transfer old vhs movies to DVD. Home movies from an older Sony Camcorder as well. Want the machine to be hackable so that it's macrovision free. Want something that's not going to give up on me after only a few months as I have numerous tapes I want to dub. I am also going to want to be converting these files to DIVX so that I can put everything on an external drive and use my Phillips DVD player with USB port to play all of them on. What are my options here. So far I'm looking at the Walmart SV2000(unfortunatly no hacks that I'm aware of at this time). Any suggestions. Looking to put everythign on DVD+R

  2. The Lite-On units from a year or two ago can be hacked MV free, or purchased already hacked.

Search eBay for the following models:

    LVW-5005
    LVW-5006
    LVW-5007
    LVW-5001

These are Lite-On clones that can be hacked:

    ilo DVDR04
    Gateway AR-230

The other option is to get a video "clarifier" like the Sima GoDVD. These boxes will let you record VHS to any DVD recorder. They hook up in between the VCR and the DVD recorder to defeat the MV signal.

Looking for something that's still on the market that can be purchased at Best Buy, Walmart,Target, etc. Something that can be taken back in case anything goes wrong. I'd be leary about buying on eBay.

If you're going for MV + Region Free in the USA, then you're going to be using hacked software, which will invalidate your warranty anyway.
