Hi
I`m trying to convert a svcd(mpg2) to normal vcd(mpg1)since my pioneer 515 does not want any svcd`s.
I`ve tried with little success using TMPGEnc and just plain nero conversion.
Perhaps I`m just doing it wrong?
Wonder if anyonee can help me, since I`d rather not buy a new dvd player yet.;-)

Maybe your player support XVCD. Then demux and remux with TMPG, set "type" to "Video-CD[non-standard]"
OR create a dvd2avi project and reencode.

but all ways remeber if your mpg 2 is bad qualtiy then your output wil be bad

Thanks.
the quality of the mpeg2 is almost dvd quality. Thats why I bother to try.
I`ll keep trying, and post results..if any -
ho hum.."demux and remux"?? Where in TMPGEnc do I find those settings?
Or arret they shorts for
simple de multiplex and simple multiplex
or multiplex, -
thanks for hte fast replies
I`ve now demuxed and remuxed.
I then proceed the put either into the video part of the encoder, both the demuxed video part and the remuxed video both get the same message
: unable to open file or unsupported file format?!?
So either I`m missing a plugin for TMPGEnc or I`m missing half a brain..
Anyway, I now am changing it to avi in dvd2avi, with divx slow compression. (no compression does not seem to work)
I justt used the default settings, anyone with other suggestion, please speak up.
Now I`m more curious about the quality after taking it from svcd to divX to vcd..scary. -
Well, I`ve tried both the methods listed here at VCd helper now.
I even tried making a .d2v file in dvd2ani, but even with the vfapi plugin for either TMGEnc 12.xx or 2.02 it does not accept the file format. Just gives me the crap about it unable to open/unsupported.
I have managed to make it into a svcd file that TMPGEnc will allow to open, but the encoding gives me only sound and a rather green distortion image..yuck.
I`ve installed tried all the recommended codecs(installed and uninstalled to avoid conflicts)
Now if anyone had a working vfapi pluging, I`d really like to have it.
just email it to: vstromm@broadpark .no
I`m giving up soon.

Actully I meant, mux as VideoCD[non-standard] and then burn as VCD.
This is a kind of XXXVCD, that maybe is playable on your dvd player.
If you need to reencode, but TMPG does not accept the .d2v, have a look at this topic:

Thanks truman. xxxvcd should be playable on my pioneer 515.
It actually played svcd when I forced nero to burn it as a vcd. Although it covered half my tvscreen, and was a bit choppy, but the image was fine..hehe.
What I need is a step by step instruction how to "mux" etc in tmpgenc because there are so many different options...
