  1. sorry if this is answered elsewhere,i did do a search but no luck.
my question is on bitrate.for example,i have a 700mb avi file its encoded at roughly 730kbps,i usually stick that in nerovision (not to everyones taste i know, but i like it),crank the bitrate upto
    6000kbps(ish) and get a 4 gig dvd video_ts folder.
if i were to set nero a lot lower on the bitrate,say,1000kbps and encode it and get a 1 gig dvd folder would there be any difference? or would it get all blocky etc?
thanks for any pointers on this.
    cheers

It will get all blocky and look like crap. MPEG2 requires higher bitrate then avi with divx,xvid,mpeg4 codecs.

Generally, mpeg 2 requires at least 3 - 4 times the bitrate of mpeg4 (Xvid/Divx) or more (mpeg4 H264) to maintain similar quality. And this is without taking into account the resizing that needs to be done during conversion, and all the artifacts and blockiness in the source.
