  1. I have an mpg file of a VHS video transferred to DVD via my set top recorder. Transferred it to the PC using DVD-RAM then renaming the file extension to mpg, and I want to add chapter menus, etc. I've done this many times before without problems. I use Tmpgenc Plus and the "Simple De-multiplex" option, then import the m2v and ac3's into Maestro for authoring.

On my latest project the final burned DVD has the audio very slightly out of synch. I've experimented in Media Player Classic and seems if I set the audio to around -100ms then it looks right. This seems to be constant through the whole disc. I've gone back and checked - it's out of synch on the Disc Navigator within Maestro, so it's a problem even prior to burning. The original mpg file is in synch, so by deduction it must be a de-multiplexing problem?

When I import the m2v & ac3 files into Maestro the audio is 2 frames longer than the corresponding video (am not sure if that's anything to do with the problem?). What's going on here and is there anything I can do? Do I need to try different de-multiplexing software?

You can try delaycut on the ac3.

  3. Run the mpg file through VideoReDo before you do anything else to it.

I assume you meant the QuickStream Fix tool? This appears to have worked a treat - it's now in synch in the preview screen of Maestro. Brilliant, and thanks profusely, you may have saved me hours of fiddling and much torn-out hair!
