If you're using DVD+R or DVD-R, you'll need to finalize the disc before it can be played in a regular DVD player. Check your owners manual on how to do this on your recorder. If you're using DVD+RW there is no need to finalize.

I have found that some DVD players will not play a home recorder DVD. I own an APEX-AD-1100W model and it will not play any home recorder DVD'S. I have not had any problems with any other DVD players. Be sure you have finalized your disc after you have finished your recording. A home DVD recorder will play back an unfinalized disc.
