  2. I rarely see VirtualDUbMod crash. When it does it's usually because of a mangled source file -- and the crash is usually caused by the codec that's uncompressing the video. There are a few buggy filters that can cause crashes.

Does your problem occur with all source files? If so, your system may be overheating.

I have this problem too. I use AutoGK which has VirtualDubMod in the package. When I want to add subs onto a video and also compress the video. It worked the first 2 times. But then, after a weeks later. I wanted to do the same thing with another video, but VirtualDubMod crashes some reason. I then thought was it to do with the video, so I tried with the previous videos which worked, but it turned out to be the same result. I'm not sure if there has been something corrupted but I haven't touched the program since it was last workable.

Try this : http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm to check for directshow filter error's (read the page on how to use it) .

Dont forget to use gspot after this problem appear's (preferably before hand)... you may need other filters installed first ...

Then hijackthis , scan system , disable all non-essential startup program's , let if fix those checked and reboot , and retest once more for the apperance of crash .

Check for updated vga driver's .
Run memtest or the ms version http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

It's also worth while installing avgfree , update , and scan the whole system for any lurking problem's ... remember to empty the vault after ... to remove some , you need to disbale system restore , rescan , empty vault ... reboot pc , reset system restore .

Do a scan disk , and a defrag as well .

There was no message but I knew. Normally, when I first used the program it worked. I have a dock to see my computer performance when working. The first time, when I starting dubbing, my CPU usage would go to 100%. But now, when I start the program, it doesn't even change my CPU usage so I went into Task Manager to check it out and it always says VirtualDubMod is not responding. AutoGK seems fine but it's just VirtualDubMod which crashes.
