I have an uncompressed AVI file that is a movie of a desktop using some applications. I'd like to encode this to FLV to compress and distribute it. I've been using ffmpeg with the following command:

    ffmpeg -y -i "capture1.avi" -acodec mp3 -ar 22050 -f flv "capture1.flv"

But the quality is very poor. Any suggestions.

    Thanks.

    maybe add bitrate also?

I use wink for desktop recording and it saves directly to flash.

Thanks for your response. How would I add bitrate?

As for wink, thanks, but I already have a bunch of existing AVIs that I'd like to convert.

I've did a few using VirtualDubMod and the FLV1 encoder in ffdshow. You can use 1 pass, 2 pass, quantizer, etc. Quantizer 2 looks good.

    Good luck.
