playback problems

Hi guys new here to this forum, my problem is a few months back I bought a new divx dvd player and the brand and model is Toshiba 3990, I download alot of xvid movies dvdrip from bit torrent forums, and just burn them onto a dvd r disc the brand of discs I use is 2 kinds I usually buy at Walmart or Futureshop, they are either Fujifilm DVD-R 120min 4.7gb write speed on to 16X, the other kind I use is Memorex DVD+R 120min 4.7gb write speed up to 8X, it seems almost everything I download and burn onto a dvdr disc and puts in my toshiba 3990 divx dvd player it pauses, skips, stops, hicups, or sometimes wil play picture seems fine and no sound i then has to shut of the player and turn it back on or some other times I haves to stop the movie and replay it again, very rarely I can get a movie that will play all the way thru without problems, beginning to really tick me off enough to take this piece of crap toshiba and smash it up, for burning a few full lenght dvdrip high quality movies to a dvdr disc I use nero , just load nero and burn it as a data dvd, other times when movies wont play with no sound and stuf like that I haves to convert it to dvd format using VSO ConvertXtoDVD, anyone else got this player and is expericing these problems, I'am really beginning to consider purchasing another divx dvd player since this is way too annoying, what are some decent priced divx dvd players that works well without these probelms or out of sync? I was considering 2 divx players right now , the first divx dvd player I'am considering is Phillips 5960, the other is usually at walmart its a diamond vision, what are your thoughts on those?

if anyone can suggest why I have so many problems with this toshiba and how to fix it, although I looked high and low for a firmware upgrade and stupid toshiba didnt make one for this garbage divx dvd player, or can suggest a decent priced divx dvd player I can purchase that works well tried tested and true sort of thing, I would be very grateful for any suggestions
