You don't want to use a USB drive with a Mac that only has USB 1.1 speed. With that connection the fastest you could burn a CD-R is 4X and the burning of a DVD would be so slow I don't think it would actually burn.

If you have installed a USB 2 PCI card in your Mac then you may have a chance of getting this to work. Go to www.patchburn.de and download the version of Patchburn that works with your OS version.

Cost of a decent usb 2.0 card from OWC = $28
Cost of a new Pioneer 110D drive through newegg.com=$32

Why spend $28 on trying to get something to work when you could spend $4 more and get it right the first time?
(you'll use Patchburn either way, but..... )

There are no 110D's there. They have 111D's.

I had to check because the last time I tried to buy a 110D I had to buy on ebay. I ended up getting 3. Sold one to twosocks and kept the other two. I put one in a case and the other one is still in the box for safe keeping.

    lawn,
    sorry about that.
Still, he could easily put in a -111 and get "MOST"
of his burning done, better than trying to hack
    it USB wise.

    How true. If I didn't have my110's, I would get the 111.

Momomoc also could take the LG drive out of its case and put it inside his Mac. But it would be smart to first update its firmware (if needed) while its connected to a PC.

Your recommendation to buy a new disc burner probably is best.
