Is this even possible? I've done many PAL 2 NTSC, but I've never attempted this conversion.

A friend told me SECAM was similar to PAL so try the same method, but I don't think this will work.

    Any insite would be great.

(I'm doing this conversion to make the Le Pacte Des Loups DVD from france into another NTSC DVD, not that this is important, just thought additional info might be useful.)

  2. PAL and SECAM use the same frame and line rate. But, if you have an analog SECAM source, like a video tape, you need to capture it with a capture card set to SECAM. Most capture cards have SECAM, even a cheap $50 WinTV card. As soon as you have captured the analog video, it will be in the PAL (SECAM) format. In the digital domain, there is no NTSC, SECAM or PAL, only frame rate and line rate. NTSC is 30 frames and 525 lines, and PAL/SECAm is 25 frames and 625 lines. There are some odd ball systems used in S.America, but otherwise the general statement above is correct.
