I have ProjectX and it states:

Note that it states H264 in it.
I can play the file on mediaplayer classic and it looks great, but the video stops/sputters/ slows down/speeds up and is generally out of time with the audio.

I would like to play this from a notebook as I have done in the past with other TS files that I converted to Mpeg, but this one will not convert the same way.
I can strip the DTS and AC3 files, but video is dropped and never produced as a 3rd file.

This has been a problem for a couple days now, I cant seem to use this movie.

I'm stumped and about to just toss the whole fileset.

How fast is your notebook? Using CoreAVC as decoder and Media Player Classic you might get smoother playback....if you haven't tried that already.

How to convert to hd avi (divx/xvid)

...not to mpeg2 but divx/xvid might be enough...

A 3.6hz should be enough for 1080i h264 if you use coreavc but it it could be something else also. Try play it with latest mplayer.

Okay, now ive gone from the frying pan, into the fire...

Now mediaplayer classic wont play it at all.

    Argh...

The quality is amazing when it does play the bits that it does.
    However, i'm rapidly losing interest.

I just read a post that outlined how to use a HEX editor to change somf bytes in the files after various convertaions and demuxing processes.

For gods sake, I really dont think this should be this hard!
    argh!
