I have a Apex 500 (heh.. from what I've read on this site it seems everyone seems to get a different model.)

Mine plays VCD's, and XVCD's, though, like the box says.

I've read that there are like some sort of limitations to how much a DVD player can handle when playing a XVCD.

I burned Terminator 2 @ 640x288 (this was the resolution the AVI file was in) on 2 cds @1150 bit rate (again, should this be higher? I read that I need a certain bitrate for a higher resolutions to work right.)

I use TMPGEnc for encoding. I've read this site on how to do so.

Well, the story is that Terminator 2 works fine (even though my DVD player zooms in a bit to fit the aspect ratio of the television, and zoom out doesn't want to seem to work.. heh).

Anyway, I burned another movie, it's resolution was 592x400 (also at a 1150 bitrate). I like keeping the orig. resolution, so that way it looks better...

However, when I try to play it on my DVD player (works fine on comp, ofcourse) it grables and skips and has a real hard time (ie it doesn't work right.

So, my question is, is this caused because I didn't use a high enough bitrate for that resolution,

or,

is this the problem?

640x288=
184 320 pixels

592x400=236,800 pixels (ie it's having to calculate more pixels/sec)

and the DVD player reached it's "maximum" bandwith or something for reading XVCD's (Sorry if my use of the tech. language is a litte loose

Should I just trim and stick to stnd. VCD maybe? Hrmmnn...

Any comments would be appreciated,
