I'm sorry if this question has already been answered in the 'how to' section. I tried to find the answer but did not. I bought a SONY Vaio computer in the US and am now back in the UK trying to play UK DVDs on it and it does not work. Is there some way to reset the region? When I bought the computer I did not think the region bs was still happening but obviously U was wrong and should have looked into it before making assumptions. Thank you to anyone who can help me. - Novice

  2. Nope, the region bs is alive and kicking.

Typically, find your DVD player in Device Manager. Right-click to open the Properties and there should be a tab labelled DVD Region. You can change it there. But, as per DVD specification, you only get 5 goes (including one already used up).

If you have a need to play Region 1 still, best bet is to get a second, external DVD player to plug in and keep it as Region 1.

Try a region free software like ANyDVD or DVD-REgion free.

And PLEASE use a better subject. We don't want to guess what it is about. I changed it this time. You can also change it by clicking on the edit-button on your first post.

I am not sure about laptop drives in Sony Computer but their retail IDE drives are rebadged Liteon-s. If you google liteon and region free you'll find a plenty of advice.

All DVD drives can be reset for different region 5 times. Look in your laptop manual, it should tell you how to do it.
