  1. Well, I edited and output using the "Same as project settings" option. I encoded to MPEG-2 and everything turned out fine. I think I will try to avoid cinema mode on that camera from now on.

  2. I'm kind of revisiting this again. I bought my own PV-GS300 and shot another pageant this weekend with it in 16:9. Everything transferred fine and I wasn't having any problems viewing normally. What's happening now is when I edit with Ulead Video Studio 9 and try to output using "Same as project settings" Ulead crashes at 99% every time. If I save as basic 4:3 it saves 100% with no problem. Maybe the files are the problem, but it would make no sense for it to crash one time and save correctly another. As we've discussed here the Pansonics shoot 4:3 and add bars to simulate 16:9 so saving as 4:3 is not a big deal except for one thing that is bugging me. I put the contestants' names on the screen scrolling across when they come out. They were put right above the black bar as part of the actual scene. If I save as normal 4:3 the name comes out with half on the black bar and half on the video, so I worry that some TV's might cut it off. I'm going to go ahead and author the DVD tonight and see what happens. But does anyone have an idea why Ulead might crash in that one instance?

  3. I don't know why UVS is crashing but your source is 4:3. You should be using a 4:3 project and treating the video as 4:3 throughout your processing. If you don't like the position of the scrolling text can't you just change the position in UVS?

  4. I can change the postition, but it's the principle of the matter. It's not being changed from 4:3 at any time, but one setting saves the text where I put it and one saves it lower. It makes no sense. It may turn out normal when I author. I didn't have any blanks this morning when I was checking it, so I couldn't test on a TV. I'll see tonight.

  5. It wouldn't be the first time there was a bug in video processing software.

  6. Preach on, brother! I would rather use Vegas. I'm sure it's capable of the same thing or more, but I don't know how to do scrolling text with it. I use Ulead for that because it's very simple to add text and make credits.
