I dunno if it is possible.
But Can your ripped VOB sources be corrupt?
If so, is there a tool wich can fix this?

I ripped VOB's from a DVD (6 episodes of heman, NTSC)

Each and everyone of em I feed to Megui will quit halfway through encoding

    I dunno why.

    What could be it?

    Any suggestions or Ideas, welcome!!!!
    (btw. re-ripping won't help)

If each VOB plays fine with MPC then they're not corrupted.
What does Megui's log file say about the error??

    Not a single F***** thing.

And the guys at doom9 don;t asnwer either.
They just reply with, yeah well it's prob you pverclocked your pc (never oc'd my system)
or a ram problem. (never had ram-problems or corrupt data, system falling out or spont. reboots)

Those F**** at doom9 are a bunch of lame mutherf****

I tried a couple of things. 1 of wich is re-installing Avisynth (1 version stepup)
Problems dissapeared. Dunno what solved it.
My PC coded for 3 days in a row. No problemo.

20/20 - Doom9 can sometimes be a great resource. There are some smart people there. Unfortunately, it can also be totally useless as in your case if they don't care about your problem. Doom9 was even worse about 5 years ago. At that time, most of the posts were either "Aren't we cool because we get to beta test some software that nobody else gets!" or "Do a search for the answer to your question, loser!" Real nice. Doom9 posters are now nicer than that, but not always helpful.

    A few guesses...
I've seen hard drives get corrupted and that can have a negative impact on your rips. I have an old disk drive that whenever I ripped a DVD to it and burned it, 99 times out of 100 it would have an error in the video and I finally figured out it wasn't my burner or the media but the disk drive.

Isn't Megui used for X.264 encodes? Could your PC actually be getting too hot? I sometimes have weird problems with CCE locking up on me and I finally figured out that it locks up if the CPU gets too hot.

Thanks for your reply. It's Cool.

About the heat-factor. Well I have the maximum Temp. set in my Bios
(60 degrees, Athlon Xp 1600+). After that my PC will begin to squeel like an idiot,
and it hasn't done that lately.

I checked my Harddrive too for fragmentation and errors.
No errors with standard WinXp-diskcheck. No errors after defragmentation either.

I'm guessing Avisynth was to blame, But I'm not sure so I'll just shut up.
    Megui uses AVS-script as input.
Thanks for your reply and your point of view on Doom9. Helps to look at it at
    a different angle.

    Have a nice day!

well, its a stab in the dark here, but protected DVDs can in most cases be only ripped by "opening"the dvd first with a player, this tends to bypass the standard protection, in accessing the files. i dont condone such practices of course, but thats the way to get VOBs off protected DVDs into programs or straight onto your comp
