I have erased DVD RW disks (with Nero 6) and they will not load into my DVR so that
I can format them in the DVR and record on them. Does anybody know if there is a way on a PC to change the format to "out of the box" state so my DVR can use them.
Thanks for any help.

I've run into this exact problem after doing both quick and full erase on my PC. I thought by doing this, the recorder would automatically see it was a usable disc and record onto it. On my recorder, I need to go to the setup menu and erase the disc thru the machine itself, even after the disc has been erased on my PC. Only then will it be able to write to it. I now forgo erasing discs on my PC if I'll be using them in the recorder.

My DVR will not let me get to the format menu unless the DVD RW "loads" correctly after insertion. I have no idea what the differance is between a Nero erased DVD RW and a new one from the store. I need a PC utility whch will "clean" the medai.

Many players have this issue. It seems that for whatever reason, as louv68 pointed out, media used for your DVR should only be used in your DVR.

Did you do quick erase (about 1.3 min) or full erase (about 30 min). Try to do full erase it may work.
