I'm wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions for a good HDV capture card for my computer. I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and I just purchased the Sony HDR-FX1 camera.
Thanks

HDV is captured using the Firewire interface - just like DV.
If your PC has Firewire already, you are set. Otherwise, you can buy Firewire interfaces for very cheaply.
You *may* need XP SP2 to support native transfer of HDV.John Miller -
Just about any Firewire (IEEE 1394, iLink) card will do. You want to avoid the absolute cheapest ones because they may be problematic. But once you get beyond that they will all give the same quality. Look to spend around US$20.

All you're doing is "copying" the digital data from the camcorder to the computer so all cards will deliver the same quality. -
Currently I have a Canopus Storm2 & Drive Bay. I know they work for DV, but I'm not sure about HDV. I also edit with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 - I think I may need to upgrade this as well to edit HDV.
I know that the Canopus Storm2 I have isn't compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 so I'm looking for some other sort of device to output my video to my video hardware for editing through my monitors and outputting the video/audio signals. -
