cant open div x

i have downloaded an avi,divx4 which i wanted to convert to mpeg and watch through
my mpeg card on tv. when i start up tmpgenc to convert it,it says,can not
open or unsupported.the video format under properties is divX-CLix.
640x272,82301 frames 23.976 frames/sec,209 kb/sec. and then it says unknown
format. i can watch it on my pc but why cant i convert it to mpeg.i'm new to all this dvd stuff. so any help would be really appreciated.

BTW if i open it up in xing encoder it starts encoding says there is 58 minutes left,then suddenly jumps from 1% to completed.the file is 700mb long.

try doenloading the nimo-codec.. i believe its in the donwload section...

it contains a lot of quality codecs, and it worked 4 me..

if this doens't work, well have to think of something else
