Can't Play VCD's With Sound

I am using a Philips DVD 825 I do have the newest firmware from Philips and I am Using a Pinoneer Receiver VSX-D508 with the optical connection. My player plays Cd's and DVD's with no problem and it does play VCD's but no sound if some one can i help me i would appreciate it.

Did you make your VCDs... and if so, how did you make them?

Did you use any non-standard settings?

Also, have you tried any other audio settings in your DVD player setup?

For anyone who would ever need help in this type of situation press buttons. My receiver was the problem. You need to listen to VCD's in 5.1 sound on my Pioneer receiver not optically. My DVD player and reciever are to blame. Both of which have no help in there manuals. The Phillips people couldn't help if anyone should have known the issue it should have been Phillips. They designed the player and should have that put in the manual that sound doesn't come through an optical cable on this player but instead analog.
