How to create DVD using VOB files

Hello,

This is my first post on this forum

I have some VOB files with no IFOs, BUPs or menus. Now I want to create DVD using these VOB files but Nero burning software giving error as there no IFO and BUP files. I need help to create IFOs and BUPs with some basic menu functionality. I have tried IFO/BUP creation with IFOEDIT but it messed up with chapter sequences though VOB files are renamed correctly.

Is there no solution other than demuxing and re-authoring (as it takes much time and also much hard-disk space) ? Any easy to use, non-buggy and free authoring software ?

Also I need only basic menu - so that it's easy to play each VOB (or movie) file in DVD player using the menu.

Demuxing doesn't take long.
If you're short of space, delete the VOBs after you demux and test them

Very simple, one title, no menu: Rejig.
With menu: you need something more complex, I use GuiforDVDAuthor.

But it fails while authoring one of the files, so after demuxing with VOBEDIT, how to re-author using dvdauthor as dvdauthor needs mpg (or vob) files and not m2v/ac3 (de-multiplexed) files ? If there are any tools which run only on linux then also it is okay for me but I really need something to burn lots of VOB files to DVD to watch it on TV.

I didn't notice you were a Linux guy.

Anyway, the way GuiforDVDauthor works is to create bunch of batch files calling the DVDauthor utilities.

The first is to mux, eg:

echo (shrink and) mux video and audio files
"P:\GUI4dvdauthor\mplex.exe" -f 8 -o "q:\DVD\Temp\sja-101.mpg" "s:\mpg\sja-101.m2v" "s:\mpg\sja-101.ac3"


It shouldn't be hard to convert that to a shell script. But I'm sure there are boards devoted to doing this on Linux, where you can get more specific help.
