Encoding karaoke with VirtualDub

I read most of the threads here about adding subtitles in Asian characters to video and followed most of the advice that was given. No luck!!!

I'm trying to encode some karaoke using VirtualDub and an .ass file made in Aegisub (the textsub filter is used to add the .ass file in VirtualDub). When viewed in Aegisub, the Japanese fonts can be seen properly, but once the file is encoded in VirtualDub, the Japanese becomes gibberish.

I have Microsoft Japanese IME installed on my computer, so I can type in Japanese in whatever font I want. But to be sure, I used Unicode fonts such as MS Mincho when picking the style for the Kanji and hiragana. Despite this, the encode is still bad. Everything else is fine except for the Japanese text.

I have also updated vobsub to VSfilter.

For all of you that encode karaoke, please help!!!

I ahve never encoded karaoke and I don't speak Japanese. I do however have a few guess's at what your problem might be. But i have some questions:

1) What format file, and subs?
2) Is they japanese text completley different or just blurry and hard to read?
3) Hardcoded or Burnt in subs?
4) Run Gspot on your files (original) and burnt in one, and find what bitrate and fps they both are running and post it.

Need more info for a guess though.

First thing I would try would be download AutoGK(not even sure if it supports dirty .ass files..haha) and follow these instructions EXACTLY:

You also could change the format on the ass files using Subtitle Workshop then add your subs.. lose alot of options but..if it works.
