    Hello all:

My PC's OS is winXP pro sp2. I am used to use Nero-Burning-Rom5.5 to burn video CD. Now I re-install OS and the Nero-Burning-Rom.

After re-install the new winXP sp2, I tried to re-inatall Nero5.5. To my surpride, it doesn't work! It said:

An older version of Nero-Burning Rom was found on your computer.

Click Remove to remove Nero-Burning Rom from your computer. After removal, this
Program will no longer be available for use.

I click the 'removal' button and it said:

The wizard was interrupted before Nero – Burning Rom could be completely installed.

Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at
Another time, please run setup again.

Click Finish to exit the wizard.

You see, it can not be re-installed! What is the cause? What shoul I do?

    Thanks! --Zhao

I would go to the Nero site and DL the Nero Clean Tool. It removes remnants of Nero that may be causing problems. Then you can try installing Nero again. But if you reinstalled the OS, that should have cleaned everything off the hard drive. Did you format the hard drive before you reinstalled XP?

But try the clean tool: http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html Pick the one for your old installation, probably version 5. BTW, if you get a newer burner, you will likely have to upgrade from Nero 5. It's too bad, Nero 5.5 was my favorite version.

If you are still having problems, you may have to upgrade to a newer Nero version. For just burning CDs, you might try CDBurnerXP Pro or Deepburner. They are both freeware.
