I've succeeded in ripping a DVD to mp4 format and putting it on my iPod. I now want to put one with subtitles on the iPod.

I know that iPod doesn't support .srt subtitle files, so I guess that the subtitles must be merged with the video, somehow.

Is it possible? How could this be done on a Mac (OS X)?

    Thanks,
    JJ

Several ways, depending upon your level of expertise from
    easiest, to hardest.

Play file in VLC, capture in Snapz Pro with Subtitles on (easiest)
ffmpegx merge video with SRT file to hard code subs ( not easy)
Quicktime Pro hard embeddment of Sub Text file (hardest)

    take your pick.
