SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A radio station fired 10 employees, including its three morning disc jockeys, after a woman died following an on-air water-drinking contest last week.
The hosts of KDND-FM's "Morning Rave" were fired Tuesday, a day after the station said it was suspending the show and investigating the death of Jennifer Lea Strange.
Strange, 28, was one of about 18 contestants who tried to win a Nintendo Wii gaming console by seeing how much water they could drink without going to the bathroom. The show's DJs called the contest "Hold your Wee for a Wii."
...
Really...come on, people!

so, what she really died of was idiocy?
not to seem insensitive or cold, but there's no way in hell those DJ's or the radio station could possibly be held accountable for her death.
Plus, I'm sure they made her sign some sort of waiver or release before they let her participate.
but seriously....
for a Wii?!?!? They're "only" $250.00 and you can pick one up at any Target here in my local area. It's not like they're super hard to get ahold of (ahem, PS3).
It's a shame that she died, and I'm not trying to belittle the fact that 2 children are now without a mother -- but the fact is there is nobody to blame here but the deceased."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

probably depends on where you are.
back on topic, I saw this story on the local news last nite. Police are saying that the case will probably be handled as a murder.
BULLSHIT!
Does anybody in this damned country still have any understanding of the concept of personal responsibility?
Nobody forced this chick to do what she did! It was all 100% voluntary."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Thirty years ago my suburb was somewhat like my old neighborhood in the big
city when I was a kid. Respect and caring was everywhere. Today my suburb
is a cesspool of uncaring, selfish, LAZY, mindless people wandering around
completely clueless.
My last sentence describes it all. Today EVERYBODY that I meet is mindless.
They don't have a grasp on anything, including reality. That includes the so-called
highly educated people.
Seems like the overall plan was to 'dumb down' the people, and the plan
is a huge success.
I suppose 99% of the people reading my post won't understand it.
Actually that percentage might be higher!
Thirty years ago if somebody did something wrong it was because they didn't care.
Today if somebody does something wrong it's because they don't realize they're
doing something wrong.
By the way, my post is based on my observations and my dealings with people. It's
my way of seeing what the future holds. I'm sure glad I lived most of my life during
the Good Old Days!!!
How many of you understand what I'm talking about? Let's see a show of hands.
That's what I thought!
A man walked into his son's room and said..."Son, that will cause blindness."
The boy said, "Dad, I'm over here." -
Oh yeah, like she had a choice!
Can't you tell her kids HAD to have a Wii?
EDIT: I can't say that I'm old enough to remember the times that Mr D. does, but I can still remember the times before this 'Age of Irresponsibility.' I always wonder whose fault was it when people killed other people before movies and video games? Whose fault was it that women got raped before Rap and Rock'n'Roll? What ever happened to just plain crazy...or just plain stupid...or just plain mean? It seems that common sense isn't as common as it used to be.Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
