ffmpeg progress is up to 1953% and still going! The file is upto 2.6gb and still going. I tried making a 720 by 304 mp4 file for ipod (which I can do with some other programs)

Settings I have set up for it are:

    TARGET FORMAT:

    IPOD TV

    fmpeg mpeg4,720x304,
    2500kbps, 23.976fps, crop

    aac, 48000Hz, 160kbps

I cropped it the same way it is on the other program and has the same size settings. I stopped it and tried a short version of it and played fine on Quicktime but wouldn't import to IPOD (G5 30gb). Even though it imported to itunes. So I started over again thinking maybe it was recorded in a dvix or avi codec so thats why I'm using ffmpeg mpeg4. Hoping it will import to the ipod. I am not using the quicktime decode feature. Rather use ffmpegs own. Since I wrote this it is up to 2006% on progress window. Can anyone help me or is this normal. I have a G4 800mhz Mac with 300gb of hard drive space and 640mb of ram. OS 10.3.9

OK finally finished after over 2000%. File came out to 2.6gb. Imported into ipod and plays. Unfortunatly it goes out of sync after a while so have some more tweaking to do. But it looks great and 720x304 is right when played in itunes. In ipod it will only play full screen (will not look different with widescreen on or off). So for those looking for a portable DVD player on those long trips and want to hook to hotel TV... pictures original 720 works fine.

OK seems when I opened the dvd folder in mpeg streamclip I fixed the breaks as it asked but then I went and saved as (assuming it would keep the break fix) but it did not keep the break fix so I saved again as TS and it kept the time fixes. I also set autosize in ffmpegx to 2:35:1 (keep Height) which I'm switching to 2:35:1 to see if it will fix the non widescreen in ipod.

The bitrate calculator seems to think 1178 kbps is enough ('Best' bitrate for 720x304 mpeg4). No wonder your output file is huge.
