Hi. I have a 5.1 ac3 file that I ripped. My question is how do I open it so it is in it's individual streams such as center channel channel, left channel, right channel, etc. If there is anyway to do this with Sound Forge or Vegas, I have those programs. Thanks.![]()

Hello

you can open a 5.1 ac3 file in Nuendo 2 It has this fascillity and you can edit individual channels also but you must have the dolby digital plug-in which one has to buy separately and Nuendo price is the big hole in the pocket

@Pinstripes23
Is there an easier way to do it than the way I am doing it with Soft Encode?

What I do is load the 5.1 AC-3 then eliminate 5 of the 6 channels then save that 1 remaining channel (giving me a mono wav file). If it is the center channel I'll call it "movie_c.wav" or for the front right speaker I'll call it "movie_fr.wav" etc.
But to do it that way I have to load the original file 6 times ... each time eliminating all but the channel I want. In the end I have 6 different mono wav files.
I do understand what you are saying but like I said ... when I tried it that way ... I don't recall SoundForge opening it up correctly.

Thanks for that!
