Sorry, this is probably a real lame question.
I have used Adobe Premiere Elements 1.0 for some time and felt like I had mastered about all that could do. So, I got an opportunity to use Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 thinking that I was ready to "step up" to "the next level".
I'm slowly figuring things out, but there is one thing that just really bugs me and I can't figure it out after much google searching and experimentation:
In Elements, on the timeline, the video clip shows each and every frame. For example, when you zoom all the way in, each frame is shown and it makes it very easy for me to decide where to cut and I have developed a couple tricks based on using this feature.
In Pro, on the timeline, it's just a bunch of blankness - you have to move the cursor thingy from frame to frame and see where it is by looking at the Program Monitor window. I hope this description makes sense.
My Question is: How do I get each frame to show in the timeline on Pro, like it seems to be default in elements?
Thanks for any help![]()

I've used Premiere and Premiere Pro for years but can't speak to V2. Don't have it.
While we wait for a v2.0 user, I have to say this hasn't been a problem with uncompressed or DV format. The arrow keys advance frame by frame and everything is there to view.
What are your project settings? What format are you importing? ... In general, what are you trying to do? -

Where this is of particular problem is in between scenes or between changes in camera angle. I find it difficult to find exactly where to cut the clip when editing (using the razor blade tool). For example, I have problems getting cut right after the fading process. To make things worse, Premier is being weird in that when I scan forward and think that I am at the end of a scene, when I scroll backward, the video in the program monitor jumps ahead.
One idea I'm having is: I have always used .avi in the past (all my experience to this point is editing captured DV tapes of home footage). Is this a phenomenon of the differences of editing compressed vs. uncompressed data?
I'll try to take some screen shots to put up to show what I'm talking about. However, one other problem is that I cannot open Premier Elements any longer after installing Premier Pro for reasons I do not understand.
Thanks for any advice! -
OK, I have screenshots of what I'm talking about.
Check out the timeline in Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0
and compare to Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0
BTW, I see now that there is something different about .m2v files rather than what I was working on before (captured DV tapes -> .avi). There is a lot of fading between scenes and it makes it difficult to get clean cuts between them. I'm sure this is just some phenomenon that this newb (me) just doesn't quite understand yet
Nevertheless, I found that when using VirtualDubMod, I think I can find and cut between these scenes a lot cleaner. Oh well, I'll continue to figure this out.
But, if anyone knows how to "turn on" viewing the individual frames in Pro (like my example from elements), I'd still like to know.
Thanks!
