Hi, i am new to the forum i am trying to do something but i have no idea what i am doing i am hoping someone can help. I will try and explain as clearly as possible.
Basically i have a DVD Season that contains 13 episodes in AVI Format. I converted all the episodes with WinAvi, and i now have loads of BUP, IFO, VOB Files.... I just want to know how to burn them to a dvd, i have tried a few times but it came out in chapters and only played a few minutes of each episode. I know i have to use Nero and then add dvd video files but in what order do i add the BUP, IFO, VOB files. Also i had to rename the VOB files as when i tried to add them it said this file already exists do i want to replace, but it is ok now i renamed them.
I am not to fussed about the menus etc i just want to burn the episodes on the disc using the files i have but how do i do that exactly? Sorry i have very little knowledge about this, appreciate any help. Thanks

Put all those files in a VIDEO_TS folder and then use Imgburn. (no need for Nero)
I read your post twice...and I'm still not sure why you had to rename.

EDIT: Now I get it...You had to convert them separately.
After they are all in the VIDEO_TS folder, (Before Burning)..try viewing it
in VLC player, just to be sure it looks like you want.

Your problem is that you have created 13 DVDs, and now want to put them all into one. You cannot just put them all into the one folder and burn because they all have the same name. You can just rename them, because that isn't how DVDs are created.

I don't know what the running time of the episodes is, but assuming 50 minutes each, you will only fit 2 - 3 on a disc without sacrificing quality too much. Either load all three into WinAVI at the same time, or better yet, ditch it and use ConvertXtoDVD. It will easily let you encode multiple episodes to a disc, and will also create simple text menus for you.

To use what you have, if you haven't screwed the pooch by renaming everything, use TDA and it's Add Video function to import 2 - 3 episodes, create a simple menu, and compile into a single DVD for burning.

Better yet, buy a Divx/Xvid capable player and put all 13 on a single disc.

And burn with imgburn 2, regardless. Much better than Nero for this type of thing.

Hello, what i did was whe i converted the 13 episodes seperately i just saved the converted files to my desktop in 13 folders, just thought would be easier as i have never done this before. In each folder has the same amount of files and all are exactly the same. So like all my VOB files were named VTS_01_1 so when i tried to add each vob file it said the file already exists do i want to replace, so i was told to rename them like
    VTS_01_1
    VTS_01_2
    VTS_01_3
    and so on...
So do u mean if i put all the files from the other 12 folders i have on my desktop into folder one which has vob, ifo, bup files and has Video_TS folder too, exactly the same as the other folders.

I had misunderstood from your first post.
guns1inger is right...use ConvertXtoDVD, save the headache.

Another way to look at it is if you have 13 episodes, they would have to be about 330MB each to fit on a single 4.37GB DVD-5.

Or if each were 30 minutes long, then that would equal 6.5 hours. Plugging that into a bitrate calculator gives you about 1300Kbps, which will look pretty bad at the full D1 DVD framesize of 720 X 480 pixels. An alternative would be 1/2 D1 or 352 x 480 pixels and would look much better as the bitrate would be better used with the smaller framesize. EDIT: Those are NTSC sizes - You will likely use PAL sizes instead.

If the episodes are 50 minutes instead, that would give you a bitrate of a little more than 700Kbps, basically unwatchable, even at the lower 1/2 D1 standards.

    Bitrate calculators here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=1#1
    The DVD structure here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

If you have to re-encode them, I would also recommend ConvertXToDVD and ImgBurn. And you might consider 2 DVDs to preserve whatever quality you have.

If you simply rename the files you'll lose any navigation information stored in ifo's for those files. The right way to join your videos is importing them one by one to TDA (as already mentioned). Drag VIDEO_TS.IFO file to the centre of SET SOURCE window for importing a video. Use 'new track' button after importing each one to put videos in separate titles. Edit track/chapter names in generated menu pages. In the end you'll have a single VIDEO_TS folder.
