How do I batch encode avi. files with TMPGEnc .
    Quote Quote
  2. 1. Open TMPGEnc.
    2. CLick File -> Batch Encode.
    3. In the Batch Encode window, Click on Clear to clear the list.
    4. Close Batch Encode Window.
5.IN your main screen, Select your Video and Audio source and complete your settings.
    6. Click File -> Add Project to current list.
    7. Select the output file option (say MPEG file).
    8. Click on Save to confirm the name and directory of output file.
    9. The Batch ENcode window is displayed. Close the window.
    10. Repeat steps 5 to 9 for all other jobs.
    11. After you are done, open the batch Encode window (File -> Batch ENcode) and click Run.

  3. I have a question, I followed those directions, they are the same as I've always used, but after each job finishes, tmpgenc closes out..before the other jobs even start. That, obviously, defeats teh purpose of batch encoding...has anyone had this happen, or more importantly, fixed it? I used to use tmpgenc with Win2k and the batch encodes worked fine...now I'm using WinXP and the latest version of tmpgenc as of 1-13-02. TIA

WOW someone else with this problem, I have posted this a couple times over the last week. I to have used batch encoding over the past 6 mo with no problems but over the last couple of weeks tmgenc closes out after 2-4 jobs, no error just disapears off the screen, and when I reopen it the batch jobs are gone and it has even gone back to the setting of the previous job before the batch jobs, even enviroment settings also. I think it may have something to do with the power saver settings in the bios as yesterday I set it to do 4 jobs but made sure I came down every hour or so to move the mouse so it never went to power saver mode and all completed ok, next step is to turn off these and see what happens, only problem with that is if I turn them off windows XP shutdown will not turn off the puter.

What kind of processor and MB are you running? maybe that is the problem, if we can find something in our systems that are the same maybe we can work on the problem, if it isn't the power managment software. I javen't gone back farther than ver 2.02 and really don't want to because I will lose sse support. Also I have found with this problem that when it appears a can't do any batch processing for it will disapear after the first job, but it hasn't done that the last couple of times. Also when this happens and I am using toolame it will dissapear as soon as the temp wave file is created, and it is not a disk space problem. Again, I am thinking it is either a power managment problem, or maybe a problem with the AMD XP cpu as tmgenc's newest ver diffenatly has some bugs involviong this cpu, or maybe even the newer speeds are causing the error, maybe tmgenc needs to add some wait states between jobs. If we get a few more people experiencing this problem we can narrow it down.

I re-read your post and the first thing you need to do is go back to ver 2.02, if you have an AMD cpu there is diffenatly known issues with ver 2.5, I never got batch to work with this version, and like I said even 2.02 has acted buggy lately, see if you have any problems with it.

  6. I never had this problem with any version of TMPGEnc (I'm currently using v2.02).

You do like dinesh suggested. I didn't have to close the Batch window, just click on the TMPGEnc main screen and added more jobs there, but make sure that every time do create a new job, check for the setting. I saved the setting to a template, recall the template for every job and check the setting to make sure it's correct (which is not)

I think sommersby is correct when he/she(? suspecious about the power saver. In several computers that I've used for this task (encoding), none of them have the power saver enable (hardware/software/os), I just click 'run', turn off the monitor and go to bed, next morning, voila, jobs done!

  7. I have a Shuttle AK31 v3.1 (KT266a VIA board) with an Athlon Tbird 1.4 and DiamondMX300 (Aureal Vortex2) sound card. I actually was using 2.02, which was the latest one posted on the tmpgenc.com site...I've since found the tmpgenc.net site and tried 2.5, but it does the same thing. My batches never finish more than 1 job, even then the program closes with 2 seconds left in the .avi, every time. APCI is turned on in my BIOS settings. Post your specs please.

  9. Thanks for that post link..I had found out that earlier versions of tmpgenc worked just fine in batch mode, so I assumed it was a bug with 2.5 and 2.02. For the record, 2.00.29.113 works fine for me with my above specs. Hope it helps someone!

  10. Well I spoke too soon, the problem is still there even in v2.00. The weird thing is that it worked the first time I tried it, but every successive attempt has exhibited the same behavior. I've come to believe it's related to what file type I'm converting...when I set up a batch encode of .mpg files, they work fine, but a batch of smr encoded files fails every time. Anyone have any suggestions? TIA
