I'm looking to convert MP4 to WMV I tired a couple of programs and work arounds that i've found on the fourms with no luck(They crash or freeze on me). the last thing I tired was https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=284288 the encoder I used was WME.

The reason i want to go to wmv is I want to start putting them on my HDD and stream them to my TV. The only wayi can at the moment is through my 360. any help would be appreciated.

well have you tried windows movie maker? It's pretty flexible.

Also try super - it can do a lot of conversions I just don't know if it will output to wmv. Worth a look though.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I tried Super and any output i tried to use came up with a error. Windows Movie Make wouldn't even open the MP4 file or the AviSynth Script file. Is it something I'm doing wrong(which I'm sure it is because I'm a noob to all of this)?

Right now this is how i got to where I am:
    - I use DVD Decrypter to get VOB files
    - Then I used Nero recode to get MP4 file

If anyone has a suggestion for a different way for me to get to the point I'm at now or anything at all I'm open to try anything at this point.

Have you upgraded SUPER recently ?
Have you tried using WME or SUPER on your VOBs instead of needlessly converting to mp4 along the way ?

If you want to edit first, I would suggest you get an mpeg editor such as videoredo or womble, or convert them to an edit friendly form, such as DV avi, so you can edit in WMM.

Have you tried stream the dvd using Tversity or Transcode 360(only for MCE)? THey will reconvert to wmv format and stream in realtime.

Or use AutoMKV and make WMV directly from the DVD, see my basic guide, https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=319304
