Real Networks had some kind of a notorious "software phones home and rats you out" caper, a few years back, I think. But what exactly is the hard evidence against MusicMatch, which many users seem to like a lot ? And is this version specific ? (Yahoo seems to have bought the product from its former developer, and done a major redesign on it. Are these "spyware" charges from before, after, or both ?) I've been looking around on the web, but haven't found anything too conclusive on this so far.

I DID find some mention of exploitable security holes, and that did look to be version specific.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

    "crapware worth $60"?

Personally, I think Vista is worth even less.

    I couldn't agree more.
Anything by Symantec/Norton will do that. All their stuff is so bloated too.

" Dell Says Crapware Is Worth $60 "
I didn't think a Dell computer was worth that, let alone the crapware they put on it. Out of the 5 PC's that I have owned, NOT one of them has been made by any of the major manufacturers. If I couldn't get one from a local shop that will build it to my specs (and this includes no crapware, AV, or anything else except an OS), then I won't buy from them, or I will buy the indivual components and build it myself...or give them to a tech to assemble. May cost a few dollars more, but the end result is worth it. Currently I have two of those computers, one is an old PIII 800 built to order in Feb 2000 and still running strong (24/7 for the past 10 months, admittidly only running a camera through a capture card and uploading an image every 10secs). The other is only 12 months old and hasn't missed a beat. Came with only XP pre installed.
It is YOUR money. Demand what you want (or don't want), and if you can't get it, then tell them you will go somewhere else. Amazing what the small shops will do to get your business.
If I was given a Dell or HP for nothing I would be ringing up the paper to place an ad under 'Computers For Sale' without even unpacking it.

Dell isn't saying it's worth $60 to you. They're saying they get paid $60 to put the crap on their computers.
