Okay my computer is pretty new but when I burn dvd's it shuts itself off about 1/3 the way threw and goes into power saving mode. I think it overloads itself. i'm using sonic MyDVD to burn... um I burned one DVD successfully that were 5 small videos of aqua teen hungerforce about 11mins each.. now when I try to burn a long movie it overloads itself. is there a better program to use or a way to fix this? the aqua teen hungerforce dvd was burned HQ and didn't even work right in my DVD player, the first episode worked ok and slowly went downhill started skipping etc. now it pretty much won't even play..

what do you guys use to burn dvds? im using sonic mydvd as i said above, with DVD -R 4.7gb/120min dvds by fujifilm

Are you actually burning the DVDs or do you also mean you are converting the files to DVD format? Burning only takes a few minutes, converting or encoding could take a few hours for a full DVD. If it's encoding and this happens, it sounds like your CPU is overheating. Pull off the side covers and blow or vacuum out the dust, especially around the CPU cooler. Or for testing, blow a desk fan in there and see if that helps. If so, overheating would be my guess. That will damage your CPU if it happens often.

If it goes into power saving mode, are you talking about a laptop? If not, change the setting to 'Always on'.

But if you only have this when burning, try a different burning program, though burning programs are unlikely to cause . ImgBurn is freeware and works very well for burning VIDEO_TS folders.

For conversions from AVI type formats like Divx or Xvid, try ConvertXToDVD. Skipping usually indicates a media problem, but with your other problems, maybe not.

    And welcome to our forums.
