  1. Okay, I have tried many things and I am starting to think that this requires more advanced conversion techniques. Can anyone here help me out? A program or a method to converting a MKV (V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC) video file to an .AVI? I have searched but I cannot find one.

Demux to raw with mkvextract, then use avc2avi to remux to avi. Can't see much point though. Nothing really that supports avc in avi that doesn't support it in mkv. Certainly won't play on any hardware players.

Also check that the file isn't VFR, because avi can't handle VFR, so you end up with video and audio that aren't the same length.

  3. Demux? Is that the same as extracting because I tried that but it won't let me do it? If it isn't the same then can you tell me how because I don't see an option for it in mkvextract?
