crazy problem, from nero 7?!?!?! slooooww burn

ok i made the jump to nero 7, all was well until i tried to burn dvd images, sometimes it wouldnt reconize the blank media i put in the drive. after a couple of spools windows would drop my dvd drive, or un-reconize it (if thats a word). i would restart and all is good. well this got very fusterating so i put back nero 6 and went to burn. took like 30 min so i checked my dma, sure enough i was in pio. i uninstalled and everything is back, but heres the real problem, i use to burn a 2 gig in like 3 min and a 4.7 in around 5.00-5.20 with both neros, now i burn a 2 gig in about 5 min and a 4.7 in like 8-9 min.

what the hell could be gong on now?

Generally uninstalling Nero doesn't completely remove it. Look to the Nero site for the Nero Clean Tool.

And if you are burning images, try ImgBurn. It seems to work better than Nero for that. And it's freeware.

Windows is what changes the drives to PIO mode. And it generally only does that when it has 6 consecutive read failures from a drive. If you are having that many read failures, you may have drive or media problems.

i used the nero clean tool when goin from 7 back to 6.

ive always used nero for images, its always worked great, i was just wondering what could cause this slowdown, to ultimately fix it.

nero7 caused the read failures, but i switched back to ultra dma thru reinstalling the ide controller. i updated my chipset drivers, my firmware is up to date. i miss my uber fast burning

ive found my problem, it takes 1-1.30 to spool before the burning process even starts. is there any way to drop this time or is it the media im using?
