    Hi there folks,

I have a question regarding the editing of title duration times.

    Basically, here's the deal.

    1) I have a main menu with 11 buttons. Each button is linked to one of 11 titles.
    2) Each title represents a demonstration tutorial that is anywhere between 5-10mins long.
    3) What I would like to be able to do is limit the duration of each title to 2mins long so that it can be distributed in a "demo" fashion.

So far I have been playing around with pgcEdit. How would I be able to do this using pgcEdit???. Or, is there another program or method to do this??? I do not necessarily wish to edit the VOB files, just limit how long each title is played for once selected from the meu.

    Thanks in advance,

To do this in pgcedit , for a demo disc :

1: Use pgcdemux to strip all into seperate m2v's and audio , just choose the ifo of each title one at a time .
2: Use rejig to reauthor each title using a celltimes text file ... which set's up the chapter point's for each clip .
3: Replace title vob in pgcedit with new version .

Continue till done , then save dvd .

Open vob blanker , and replace second cell of each title with a custom vob cell saying "not available on demo disc" ... then edit the nav command's so that these do not actually play when viewed ... it's the only way to produce a demo disc ... if the content dosent exist , they cant get at it in the first place ... can they ...

Reload in pgcedit , check all is well , save dvd , and play test it ... in atleast 2 or more dvd playback products on the pc .

    Koolplaya is accurate
    Avs dvd player is accurate
Nero showtime ... well , anything can happen with this idiot .
Window's media player ... menu's should work ... but how far do you trust ms these day's .

If you have a pc not running xp , you could use ifoedit to playback the content ... it's good at trapping poor or incorrectly used navigational command's .

When result's are fine , you can then burn it using imgburn .

I agree with an approach such as Bjs's solution being better than just modifying the IFO to playback only certain pieces of each title -- because then the actual content is NEVER there for the user to obtain.

That said -- there are ways you can use PGCedit/IFOedit to simply modify your existing DVD to only play certain sections of each title (how easily you can do it depends on how your DVD is authored), but it's just not "foolproof" because you risk the possibility someone knows a little about DVD's, and can go obtain the rest of the video themselves...

  4. Open the DVD in VobBlanker (free). If the various titles are in the same VTS, highlight it and the titles will show up in the lower screen. Otherwise highlight each VTS in turn. Then highlight the titles, one-by-one, in the lower screen. Use the Prev/Cut Button to cut each title to the length you want. Give it an Output Folder and Process. This will edit the vob files, but without dismantling the DVD in the process. Plus it's quick and easy, and no one can undo your work to unlock the complete DVD, as GeorgeW warned against.

    Dear all,

Thanks for all the quality feedback. I went with cutting each title with VOBblanker as I was fairly pushed for time and my DVD structure is a nightmare!!!! Worked just fine.

    Cheers,
