Problem with Showview / Videoplus

I bought a JVC DR-MH30S (PAL) HDD/DVD Recorder in Dubai and brought it back home to the UK.

This model is listed as having ShowView but whenever I set up the tuner and the corresponding "Guide Prog Set" menu making sure that the BBC1 "TV Prog" is set to "Guide Prog" 1 and so on for BBC2, ITV and Channel 4, then when I enter a VideoPlus code for a particular TV programme I wish to record, the unit either records the incorrect time or else it states "G-Code / ShowView No. Error Confirm G-Code / ShowView No. Then Retry".

I spoke to JVC Technical Support but they informed me there was nothing I could do in this regard. My conversation with the Tech. guy didn't exactly instill confidence in me as to his abilities to give sound advice.

Can anyone out there please advise as how to correct this problem and get VideoPlus operational.
