When I try converting .avi or .asf divx movies into VCD or SVCD using TMPGEnc, the program just freezes after the first second or two. I read that this happens sometimes and that to fix the problem you should first convert the audio into a .wav file. I tried downloading other converting programs but most don't work with .asf and I received error messages with the .avi files as well. I just don't know what else to try.
So I downloaded VIRTUALDUB v1.3c with the SMR plugin and followed the instructions. But the file that I produced was NOT a .wav file....instead it was a file type which my computer didn't even recognize. I tried again following all the directions on how to use it on VCDHELP.com but it just wouldn't produce a .wav file.
So now i am stuck....what is the best and easiest way to convert my .avi and .asf divx files into MPEG-1 and MPEG-2?
Thanks![]()

so when you used virtualdub did you save the file as a .wav format ? i have a few asf files and i have used the virtualdub w/o any problems converting the audio

you probably didnt change the audo to full processing mode
but anyways.. frameserving is the best way to go imo... virtual dub handles compressed avis much better than tmpgenc.. when you frame serve to tmpgenc it basically sends a raw avi (a frame at a time) to tmpgenc...
http://www.vcdhelp.com/convert.htm#frameserve
follow instructions exactly
