I have recorded a football game on my tivo and want to put it on a single single layer dvd. I have succesfully transfered the game to my computer and used VideoRedo to remove the commercials and extras I don't want. The resulting mpeg is 8.5 gig (3 hours worth). Obviously this is too big for a single layer dvd. So, I used Tmpgenc to re-encode this to a dvd compliant mpeg that is only 4gig. I would have thought this would have been small enough to fit on a dvd. However, when I go to author this file, I wind up with an estimation of 6.6 gig. I have tried nero vision express and sony dvd architect 3.0, both give me about the same estimation. Dvd architect tells me that it will have to re-encode the audio (not the video). Sureley the audio and the dvd structure are not taking up 2 gig??? Can someone explain this to me and give me some pointers? Do you need any more info from me?

Yep, use Tmpgenc DVD Author!
Nero vision express probably wants to reencode the video.
DVD Architect wants to reencode the audio to wav pcm and it's huge...maybe if you can select dolby ac3 audio it should fit.
