Dazzle DCS200 Help

I got this little thing (a Dazzle DCS 200 USB box) used from a flea market booth for five bucks the other week and just tried to install it. But, it seems I've got the same problem as everyone else... namely, the software included sucks. A lot. It keeps freezing on me. Even the diagnostic stuff freezes!

So! I need to know if there's another program that will accept input from the Dazzle box. I read that some people have reported success with Ulead VideoStudio, so I'm getting that now. I'm not even sure if the thing works, of course! But I'm hopeful. I didn't spend five bucks on the thing for nothing.

Does anyone know if the thing chokes on USB 2.0 cables, though? I mostly have USB 2.0 cables. I couldn't find anything about that in Google...

(My system: Windows XP SP2, 1.5GB RAM, and tons of hard drive space.)

I've had good luck in the past with Pinnacle Studio 9 (pinnacle bought out dazzle) I've had my DCS200 for about 5yrs. I agree that the software that comes with it is extreme difficult to get working. It was very buggy I has a laundry list from support patches and work arounds to apply. Every time I re-installed windows (Win98 at that time) I had to something different. That's when I tried a demo copy of Studio 9 and it worked wonderfully with very little effort for many years. However I recently had to replace my motherboard which meant re-installing WinXP. Since then I haven't be able to get it to work. Pinnacle support said they no longer support the DCS200 with Studio 9 so we're on our own. My theory is there might of been a Patch or sometihng to WinXP that is incompitable. I've resorted to building a 2nd PC to experiment with different versions of the windows and Service packs / patches. I recently has it working with Win2000 and Studio 9.1 Pinnacle stops supporting sutdio 9 2/1/07 you can still download the drivers for the DCS200 (DVC150 is essentially the same thing minus the card reader) from pinnacle at
