    Hi,

How I can filter mpeg audio (44,2kHz stereo) so that some low frequence humming and creaking will cut down to be less disturbing? Humming sound lot a like 50 Hz generated by power supply voltage and it's recorded on audio track. Maybe then video was captured there was some kind of grounding loop. Anyway is there any good software to help me to get rid of that...

  2. Firstly, you will have to decode your MPEG audio back to uncompressed PCM WAV first (or if you still have your original uncompressed use that). Winamp can decompress the MPEG audio and write it to a WAV file for you.

    Then, use CoolEdit 2000.

Find a silent section of your audio and select/highlight it.

Click on Transform --> Noise Reduction --> Noise Reduction

Click on the button marked "Get Profile from Selection".

Then select your entire WAV file.

Click on Transform --> Noise Reduction --> Noise Reduction --> OK.

Save and re-encode your audio to MPEG.

    Regards.
