    According to the manual it can't - that would - sadly - mean I wouldn't be interested in this model anymore.

    Can anyone please confirm that it really cannot read mp3 VBRs?

    The manual of the older s557 does not mention vbr or cbr, at all, could anyone who owns an s557 please confirm what type of mp3 files it can play?

    Many players choke on vbr mp3's.
