A freeware simple little icon converter program that takes PNG, JPG, and BMP is Imagicon 1.8. I got mine from http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Misc__Graphics_Tools/Imagicon.html

Its a drag and drop your photo onto the program and it converts it application. I usually set the icon options so to make the backgrounds transparent. The photos I make I put in a white background so I simply choose white (make that color transparent) from the options menu. Easy. Works good. Might want to try it out.

    Good luck.

You need an icon making program such as Microangelo or Imagicon 1.8,both which are trial versions you can download to try.

I just downloaded Micro from dl.com, is it a fully functional program in trail mode. I only need 10 or so images changed and don't feel like spending money.

  5. Denvers Dawgs: There is a freeware program called Irfanview and it has the ability to save an image as a "ico" file which stands for Windows Icon. Irfanview is a very handy program and you can do alot of tasks with it. I don't have experience with .png files but I wouldn't be surprised that Irfanview can open that kind of file and you can save it as an "ico". It might be worth a try, and the program is free.
