  1. I have a Fusion HDTV5 RT Gold. I would like to convert the .ts or .tp HD video stream to a .AVI DiVx file. I don't want to do 3 or 4 steps to get the process done. Just a single program to do the converstion.

I can download TV shows that are approximatley 43 minutes (all commericals removed) long that are HD .AVI files with a size of approximatley 350MB. If I want AC3 audio the file size goes to 700MB. I want to convert the files that I record to this same high quality format for my familys use.

Using HDTVtoMPEG2 or VideoRedo Plus to remove commericals does an excellent job. Both of these programs saves a HD file as a .TS. I have tried using avi.net to convert to a .AVI file but the quality is NOT there.

    Thanks for you help.

Try autogk - but I doubt it'll be significantly better than avi.net
Use Target quality set to 75% and then up this until you're satisfied.

Im looking for a program that can convert tp and ts videos to avi videos without any audio sync problems.

Im using Cyberlink Cinema 6.0 and Beyond TV to capture HD shows with my ATI HDTV Wonder card.

Last night I recorded with Beyond TV ... the Heroes episode that came on last night ... Monday Feb 9th 2009.

I was looking for articles later in the evening and found this article ... and downloaded Auto GK and installed it.

I tried it out using the Heroes episode and did not use any of the hidden settings ... I learned about them later and didn't get to access them. I set the audio for CBR and size of video to be 1 CD [700 mb] ... no commercials were removed yet and I figured I make it 700mb and remove the commercials later.

Well ... I went to bed and checked the results when I got up the next day ... results are ... image is clear ... looks good.

Audio !!!! ...... it is 2 minutes out of whack .... audio is playing 2 minutes early.

As soon as the video is playing ... it is still showing ... the TV show ... Chuck ... and audio is ... Peter and Nathan talking.

Started the video and watched the seconds tick by and when Nathan and Peter appeared .... 2 minutes had gone by.

Is this normal for Auto GK ... ?? ... to mess this up ??

I have used Cyberlink PowerDirector 7 ... to convert the TS files that Cyberlink PowerCinema makes to Divx videos. Did a good job ... audio sync ... just a little little bit out of whack ... barely noticeable.

PowerDirector 7 ... wont see tp files ... but if I change the tp extension to ts ... PowerDirector 7 does accept them. I have not tried to process a video all the way ... to see if it messes up.

So guys .... as Joepic mentioned .... there are TV show videos out there to be downloaded .... one hour shows ... commercials removed and are now 41 minutes long ... quality is decent and audio is not messed up. And size is usually ... 350mb.

    What are they using ??

Maybe run them trough videoredo using the quickstream fix or projectx and then convert the mpg/ts. Only for mpeg2 ts files then.

Bad sync on OTA Transport Stream files is often due to the audio jumping from 5.1 to 2.0 during commercials. Also, short (1-2sec) interruptions in reception will do it.

With Beyond TV, I find that 'Showsqueeze' set to DivX, outputs avi files that while average in quality, are in sync.

Seeing the suggestions posted in other posts ... I downloaded StaxRip.

I double clicked on it ... installation started ... seconds later ... the complete file I had just downloaded ... disappeared [right in front of my eyes ... I watched it disappear] ... a moment later ... Norton Internet Security 2009 popped up a message saying ... Norton Sonar has a detected a threat ... and solved it ... what the heck ... what was the threat.

Does StaxRip have some code in it that NIS 2009 thinks is bad.

I used the linked posted at this website and went to the authors website and downloaded from there ... I did not get the file from some other website. StaxRip seems to be installed but the setup file downloaded is gone. Weird !!
