I cannot make a movie with Win. Movie Maker. I have created the video from about 100 smaller clips with music, many video transitions and video effects. The whole project is about 35 minutes long. When I choose the "save to DVD" option, it begins and then freezes up. I have saved smaller projects to DVD before that play just fine in my DVD player.

Now I have even noticed that I cannot play the whole project within Windows Movie Maker without it freezing up. It plays the first 3 - 5 minutes then freezes. It almost seems to me like I don't have enough memory or something? Can anyone help me??

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. This is my first time doing any kind of forum.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. What operating system are you using? The "Save to DVD" option, I thought, was a Vista thing. My XP SP2 version of Windows Movie Maker doesn't have that option....

I'm at my office, so I'm not at my pc. I don't know what computer I have, except that it is an HP c1230, I think. It's a year old now and has Windows XP 2003 maybe. Sorry I'm not too techy.

I didn't even know how to get back to this forum.

I have seen issues with WMM when the movie comprises large numbers of small clips or stills. The only solution I have seen that comes close to working is to output to DV-avi instead of wmv, and even then, it can simply skip several minutes of footage and output a black screen instead. I have seen this in projects as short as 20 minutes running time. It is a simple tool for simple projects.

For the tech heads, these issues are on well maintained XP SP2 systems with reasonable amounts of memory and CPU power.

Thanks, I'm going to try to break it down and save the movie 4-5 minutes at a time, then put those clips back together. We'll see.
