Hello. I'm totally new to this. My question is if I have captured my video to .mpg or .avi, and I want to (I'm not sure if this is the correct terminology or not) encode or compress the file using a codec like xvid or divx to make the file smaller, how do I go about doing that? Or where should I look on this website for tutorials on that?

Use AutoGK. Open the avi or mpg. Set the desired output file size. Convert. Done.

you can compress video with programs like VidLogo by geovid's company, it's not a special tool only for converting between different video formats, but also for adding logos and watermarks to the video. i think it's right what you wanted.
