I know there are a few more features in ImgBurn, but I'll never use them. I use CloneDVD + AnyDVD to rip, so I really don't care that DVD Decrypter can rip DVDs. Is there any advantage to using ImgBurn over DVD Decrypter to burn .iso images? Is the burning engine better or updated in some way that would give me better burns? Thanks.

Have you actually even read a sentance or two about either ??

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ImgBurn
ImgBurn carries on from where DVD Decrypter left off! ImgBurn can write most types of CD / DVD images and it supports all the latest writers (including booktype / bitsetting on many of the major ones - i.e. BenQ, LiteOn, NEC, Plextor, Sony). Create ISO's from files on your hard disk, or burning them direct to a disc. You can even use ImgBurn to erase / format your rewritable
I would hope the burning engine, among other features, would be updated or improved in ImgBurn seeing as it is a newer program & DVD Decrypter is older and not being worked on anymore, not to mention they are both products developed by the same author, LightningUK....

Yep, I have read about them. What I thought I was asking was whether or not I will get better quality burns of my .iso images (DVD-5) by using ImgBurn instead of DVD Decrypter. I really don't give a crap about the rest of that stuff.

If Decrypter works fine for you now, then no, no difference.

If you have issues with your newer burner not being seen in Decrypter, or you want to burn DL ISO's, then I'd have to suggest ImgBurn.

    I use both.

The quality of a burn is determined by the interaction of the drive, firmware, and media (not the software).

Searching the changelog (available here) of all changes since DvdDecrypter for anything related to the dvd-5 disks (all you're interested in), there isn't anything that would affect your results if you're using -R, but there are changes that would be considered improvements if you're using +R.

In a nutshell, use either program for -R SL, use ImgBurn if you're using +R SL. Also (as lordsmurf recommended), if you do develop an interest in burning DL, then ImgBurn is preferable.
