First off, I would like to thank you for even clicking this topic. I could not find anything on this topic after searching for the last 20 minutes, so I'm resorting to adding a new topic.

My scenario is this. I edited a video (which I thought was a final cut), only to find out I need to add one more segment to it. What I need your help on is how I can go about authoring a new DVD menu for the extra button pointing to the new footage. I didn't want to convert the VOBs, and am trying to create a new menu that would have buttons for the 4+1 VOBs. The end result would be Videos 1-4 are continuous playing, and video 5 would be a "bonus" video that needs to be manually pressed.

I hope this made sense. Thanks again in advance.

TMPGENc DVD Author, add dvd video and add the old dvd, add the new video and make a new menu.

Or are you using something else for authoring?
Or do you also want to keep the old menu? Then I would checkout DVDReMake Pro or https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=939#939

Thanks Baldrick. I'm using DVD Workshop right now, do you know of a way to use that application for it? I attempted, but it didn't allow me to drop a VOB file in. I do not need to retain the old menu, so recreating a new one would be okay. I'll take a look at TMPGENc - would you know of any other application that would be able to do this? This is a one time edit (hopefully), so $90 is hard to justify. Thanks again!

Which version of DVD Workshop are you running -- DVD WS 1.x, 2.x, Full, Express, SE, Trial, etc...

The latest version has a function to "Import From DVD" (in the Edit step, above the timeline there is a little icon with the letters DVD inside it -- this will allow you to import the mpegs from your existing dvd). As long as you don't tell DVD WS to re-encode, it will re-use the imported mpeg files "asis" without re-compressing.

    Regards,
    George

    Hi George,

I'm not at my home PC, but I do recall it being v1.0 (Full). I don't remember seeing an Import From DVD icon, but will take a look later. If v2.0 has that, I may want to consider upgrading - that function could come in handy for other projects.

    Thanks!
