Wondering if a divx dvd player can resume avi files like a normal dvd after you stop and power down the unit. My philips dvp642 does not have resume for avi files just wondering if this is an inherent problem or maybe because i didn't burn a divx file it was an xvid. Are there units that can resume avi/xvid/divx files once the unit has been turned off? I was looking at possibly upgrading to the dvp5104 in hopes that it can and the much better reviews of the unit.

Like you, my Philips 642 does not resume. I also own the Philips 5960 with the front USB and it does resume Divx/Xvid file playback using a DVD of Avi's or from a USB key. Hit stop once and it goes back to blue screen. Hit play and it resumes about a split second before you stopped it.
