Hi,
I use Win ME. I have successfully used Sefy's Classical Newbie DVD Conversion Guide v1.7. Using this guide I was able to convert some DVDs to VCDs. TMPGenc is now giving me error messsage "Tmpgenc has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Tmpgenc will now close".
This happens when I try to open the .d2v file produced by DVD2AVI tool.
The last thing that I changed on my PC was to reinstall
PowerVCR. This is a vedio capture and software that came with the computer.
Would anyone have any idea as to what is the problem ? Thanks a lot.

I get the same message quite regularly when encoding DV type 1 files (from my JVC camcorder). TMP is not compatible with type 1 files. I found that Version 2.0 works better than the newest version 2.5, which absolutly won't accept type 1 files. My best workaround is to slow down my operations (a few seconds between each mouse click for filters, etc). When I do that, I get significantly fewer errors.
I have also used ULEAD to convert the type 1 file to type 2. Then it worked fine, but it takes a lot of time and disc space. But you might want to try this also.
